What types of inspections do we offer? We perform both level 1 and level 2 inspections, so you get the care and attention you need, no matter what state your fireplace is in. Learn more about each below, then reach out to set up your appointment with us. We’re happy to help you soon!
Level 1 Inspections Explained
A level 1 inspection covers the basics. If your system is used regularly, hasn’t undergone any recent repair work or changes in fuel type, and gets inspected every year per the CSIA’s recommendation, then a level 1 inspection should be all you need. Our crew will use a few basic tools to examine all readily accessible parts of your chimney, ensuring everything is structurally sound and free from damage.
We will also look for buildup and excessive creosote. Creosote is very flammable and increases your risk of experiencing a chimney fire, so having it regularly removed is a must! If there’s a lot of it in your flue, we’ll recommend our sweeping services, allowing you the ability to stress less this fall and winter.
When’s A Level 2 Inspection Necessary?
Now, there are some instances where a more thorough overview will be necessary. During a level 2 inspection, we use video equipment to view every part of your chimney’s interior. We’ll snake our cameras up through your flue, ensuring we get a good look at everything, and our team can make recommendations for further maintenance based upon our findings.
When are level 2 inspections necessary? The CSIA urges homeowners to schedule one in the following scenarios: after a natural disaster (hurricane, tornado, flood, etc.), after a chimney fire, before moving into or out of a home, and after a major change to the appliance (relining work, switching fuel types, etc.)
